Dear Reader,

I thank so much for tuning in this week!

I have some intriguing content ahead for the month from June and I am excited to share my photography, experiences, and journey with you. The pictures above, are from a shoot I did with Hope a few weeks ago. I am immensely proud of this work and I love how the photos turned out. In this post I am not going to talk about the pictures in depth, but about something that I felt inspired to discuss: Cultivating Confidence.

The Journey to Confidence is Windy and Ever Evolving

There was a point in time in my life where I could not stand myself. If someone asked me if I was confident, I would proudly say “yes” knowing full well I was telling them a lie. Being a teenager in a my day was racked full of insecurities, comparison, and mental anguish. I can only imagine how adolescents today feel with social media. Nevertheless, now that I am a woman and am past my childish idiosyncrasies, I still find that there are some places where I could stand to be more confident. I thought, foolishly, at one point in my life that I would find confidence and manage to keep it and never have to work on it again. I was wrong. Becoming confident is an ever-changing, hard, and beautiful journey.

Confidence Comes from Self-Acceptance

Whenever insecurities pop-up for me, I find that they are less surface level and more about deeper, subconscious things. When I was a teenager, I would hate the way I dressed. Now, as an adult, it’s the way I handle situations or deal with things. Through all of this, I learned one thing: No one is perfect and confidence comes from accepting yourself. You’ll never have life figured out. You’ll never be able to do everything perfectly. Even through the shortcomings we deem as flaws, they are perfect, they are necessary, and when we accept them we gain confidence.

Life is too short to dislike yourself. Life is too short to not take a risk. Life is too short to beat yourself up.

XoXo
